Window Switch Replacements
When I drove up
to the NJ Inspection Station last February (has it been a year ! ? ! ) to
finish my inspection I found that they had a "Take a Ticket"
machine at the entrance. The ticket recorded the time I entered the
Inspection Station so they could measure how much time I wasted in line. Much to my dismay, the driver's window refused to go
down! I cursed & opened the door to get my ticket. I have survived
the past year by swapping the (working) passenger's window switch for the
(non-working) driver's side one. At least that way I could pay tolls!
The switch socket and the failed switch both showed signs of severe overheating. NOS switches were hard to come by
and when I saw the DeLorean
Motor Company, Houston ad for reproductions
I ordered a pair (Part# 101177). They are very nice reproductions. It's hard
to tell them from the originals. The biggest difference is the new ones have
www.delorean.com etched on the side. The originals say "Torrix."
DMC Houston's new online
catalog is a great use of technology! It's half Parts Catalogue and half
pricelist. To find out about the window switches, click on the number 28
on the Combination
Swtiches page.
I also ordered a replacement defogger switch,
but it was back ordered. Warning !
Do NOT take the top off of the defogger
switch! Solving Rubik's
Cube is easier than reassembling the defogger switch! Trust me on this
one!
Note (4/7/02): My replacement defogger
switch finally arrived. I am NOT going to take the switch cap off!
